Boise Architectural Photographer

I am truly fascinated by this life, and so many aspects of it. This is one thing I love about my work, is that it allows me to learn about subjects, people and businesses inside and out. I get to spend time exploring and learning and it’s so much fun for me. I did this shoot for Jeremy with Treasure Valley Lighting & Design. He reached out about me shooting several locations for his lighting business, I wanted to meet up in person and talk about his business and goals, but he was so busy with his lighting business that he didn’t have time (because he was lighting 140 trees at The Village, among other jobs :)), so him and I did a quick phone meeting and it was fun to hear about the process that he guides his clients through for designing custom lighting for their homes and businesses. I’m a photographer, and have feelings about basically everything, but ESPECIALLY lighting. Light can change the atmosphere, light can raise or lower your spirit, and light can turn a boring photo into something incredible. Enough rambling, this was a super fun shoot for me and I’m grateful that Jeremy hired me for it. Here’s the locations, in order:

Ten Mile Christian Church

The Village at Meridian

Eagle City Hall

Heritage Park, Eagle, Idaho

Gear Used:

Canon EOS R

Canon 24mm F1.4L

Goby Variable ND Filter (although I just got this one from Polar Pro which I’m real stoked about!)

Manfrotto Tripod (but I’d get this one from Vanguard if I was you.

Prograde 128gb v90 SD Card

Thanks for hiring me for this shoot Jeremy and beautiful work on the Christmas lights man!

Boise Train Depot Photos | Jenna

I had a blast hanging with Jenna and her dad, we had a beautiful Saturday morning in Boise, we started out shooting near Hull’s Gulch, one of my favorite places to shoot in Boise, and then we finished up at the Train Depot in Boise, an iconic Boise location that gets used for lots of photoshoots.

We also played it cool (tromped into the train depot like we knew what we were doing) in hopes that people would think we were vendors for an event that was setting up there….and we succeeded.

When I think of high school seniors, I don’t think of the most mature beings on the planet, but Jenna is clearly very mature beyond her years, and she plans to go to college to be a nurse, which is super cool. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the storytelling, but thanks Jenna and Travis for having me take these photos, and for spending a Saturday morning with me.

Boise Photographer | Halloween Birthday Party

This was amazing…and like nothing else I’ve ever photographed. I wore a skeleton onesie costume for this shoot (which was admittedly an extremely weak sauce costume, Jenee the coordinator told me that maybe I could be entered in the “is that really a costume” contest 😂(which was a really contest at this party)).

It was Rose’s 40th birthday and to celebrate this milestone she and her family put on an INCREDIBLE Halloween party. Bliss events absolutely slayed this party and I’ll give you a description that will explain how legit the party was, it was complete with a psychic, DJ, scare zone, incredible food + drinks, coffin, hurst (a real one, who’s license plate read “timezup”) actors and a bunch of incredible costumes. Boise’s vendor scene was well represented (see vendor list and links below)

I love these types of shoots, and anything interesting and unique. Part of the fun of this shoot was the challenge of capturing the atmosphere as it actually was. I could’ve used a flash or lights and smashed the ambiance to smithereens, but I wanted the photos (and video, I shot a movie style trailer for the party) to show what the party was REALLY like, so I chose to shoot available light only, and it was a very dark party. I was amazed at how well the EOS R performed in low light, I shot both on it and my 5D Mk III, and the EOS R outpaced the Mk III by 100x. It focused easily and accurately in the dark situation, and nailed the focus even when I was shooting at F1.2. The Mk III took much longer to lock focus, and then it missed focus more often. It was hard to see when the Mk III was in focus compared to the EOS R’s EVF viewfinder. I trash talked the EOS R when it was launched based on it’s specs, but once I had it in my hands it was a different story and I was left apologizing and caressing my beautiful new camera. This shoot, more than any other so far has showed me how impressive the EOS R is, and I’m so excited for the pro version of it to launch soon.

I’ll be sure to post the movie trailer once I’ve got it finished.

Happy Birthday Rose, thanks so much for hiring me, it was an honor to be a part of this incredible party.
